tre Bless

Being hurt, but at the same time also being blessed.

tre Bless will be an autobiographical physical performance. After more then twenty-five years of making theatre it is time to reflect on this life which has become a synthesis between theatre and life experience. I want to research how my theatre work has evolved through the years and how life experiences have played a part in the creation of my theatre productions. In short, Ill use my life as an inspiration for the performance, which centres around the development of physical theatre.

I am frequently inspired by the work and lifes of strong women. They are strong, but many of their lives end in tragedy. I started with Valeska Gert, a grotesque dancer from the Berlin of the nineteen twenties, Unica Zrn and Louise Bourgeois. Each and every one of them, women who take risks. Yet still they experience moments of vulnerability and uncertainty. Their great longings and enormous desires, keep them going. They enjoy life and suffer at itfs hand, without ever wanting to escape it.

At the present, I feel the need to do upon myself what I did with my theatre characters. Namely, how do you distil theatre out of your own life. An important aspect will be my own shortcomings and limitations, which shaped, influenced and blocked me, but also made me strong. And its the theatre that helped me in this process.

My idiom. I have developed my style with which I work, through different disciplines: acting, painting, dance and music. The balance of these elements depend on the performance. Movement can give speed and dynamism to the performance and carry it beyond reality and make the unsayabel, sayable.

With language I create subtle and poetical moments. The lines give direction and feed the performance.
